Located on Florida's Treasure Coast in Indian River County is the newest public shooting range. It has been created through the cooperative efforts of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River County. The range is structured to provide a safe, supervised facility for the patrons of the Treasure Coast. The facility is recreational in nature but also provides for the training of Law Enforcement Agencies in the area. The facility consists of a 5-stand (shotgun) range, a pistol range consisting of 35 firing stations, a rifle range with 29 stations including two 200-yard target firing stations, an air gun range, a 65-yard archery range, as well as work-through sporting clays and a walk-through archery course. The facility is fully manned to insure maximum shooting safety. In addition to the recreational aspects of the range, it is also a hunter’s education training facility with courses taught by the Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Shooting Range staff.
If members of your family or party would prefer to undertake other activities, the shooting range has a lake that has been stocked for those who would enjoy taking a child fishing. That's your ticket to fishing; without a child, you may not fish! So enjoy the memories of your childhood and take a kid. Loaner guns are available as well as fishing rods for the kids.
