Indian River County Approved for FEMA Individual Assistance! 



If you have experienced damage to your home as the result of Hurricane Irma be sure to:
Step 1: Submit a claim to your homeowner's insurance, if applicable.
Step 2: You may qualify for FEMA assistance. Apply online at https://www.disasterassistance.gov/ or call 1-800-621-3362; those who have a speech disability or hearing loss and use TTY, should call 1-800-462-7585 directly; for those who use 711 or Video Relay Service (VRS), call 1-800-621-3362.

When you register for disaster assistance either online or by phone, you will need the following to complete your application.
  • Social Security number
  • Address of the location where the damage occurred (pre-disaster address)
  • Current mailing address
  • Current telephone number
  • Insurance information
  • Total household annual income
  • Routing and account number for your checking or savings account (this allows FEMA to directly transfer disaster assistance funds into your bank account).
  • A description of your disaster-caused damage and losses

The Gov. has activated the FL Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program. Businesses throughout the state are eligible to apply. These are short-term, interest-free working capital loans intended to "bridge the gap" between the time a major catastrophe hits and when a business has secured longer term recovery resources.  Loan amounts are between $1,000-$25,000, for a term of 90 or 180 days, and can be used for physical or economic damages. Applications will be accepted through 10/31/2017, contingent on the availability of funds, for small businesses with 2-100 employees.

Submit the completed application to Tom Kindred, Manager of the IRSC Small Business Development Center, at the Ft. Pierce Campus.

FL Virtual Business Emergency Operations Center - 
The FLVBEOC coordinates local, state and federal agency actions that provide immediate and short-term assistance for the private sector. We encourage all businesses to register on this site.  Once registered, you can complete a Business Damage Assessment Survey to report any damages suffered during a disaster, either physical or economic damages. The information in these Business Damage Assessment Surveys is vital to receiving State and Federal disaster loans and grants. We encourage you to REGISTER YOUR BUSINESS with the Florida Virtual Business Emergency Operation Center Organization (FLVBEOC). It's FREE!  The FLVBEOC offers a list of RESOURCES for businesses preparing and for the aftermath of a disaster such as Business Disaster Tool KitSBA Disaster LoansBusiness Damage Assessment, and much more.


Small Business Administration Disaster Loans
Businesses and private non-profits in Indian River County are eligible to apply for Economic Injury loans through the SBA. These are working capital loans, up to $2-million, intended to help a small business meet financial obligations that cannot be met due to a disaster.  Applications are accepted through 6/11/2018. Go to the SBA website to complete and submit an SBA Disaster loan online.

FPL crews are restoring service safely and as quickly as possible.
We estimate we will have restored power to essentially all of our customers along the east coast service territory by the end of this coming weekend, with the possible exception of areas impacted by tornadoes, severe flooding and other pockets of severe damage.
