Five elementary schools, Fellsmere Elementary, Sebastian Elementary and Pelican Island Elementary, Liberty Magnett
Elementary and North County Elementary Charter School serve the Sebastian River Area. The largest, Pelican Island Elementary
is located on 40 acres with a nature trail that is partially sponsored by the Audubon Society.

For those seeking higher education, Indian River Community College, a two-year public college, serves the area from its Mueller Center in Vero Beach. For over ten years IRCC students have earned the top passing rates in the state on the College Level Academic Skills Test. Slightly to the north is Brevard Community College which offers local training in a host of important skills while within 90 miles are a dozen institutions of higher learning with a range of programs to provide for a wide variety of educational opportunities. The later include the Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida Atlantic University's Ft. Pierce campus.
